Through on-going consultation with market participants and policy stakeholders, the Institute is exploring potential for hosting events through which key topics of interest and public hearing may contribute to informed decision-making of benefit to policy makers at a number of different levels. We are beholden to no party or particular outcome, but welcome the opportunity to host a common ground for thoughtful dialogue to ensure that tax, security and other factors of economic importance to Canadians including reinforcement of social capital may be heard and better understood by affording key informants meaningful context for growth and development.
We know that specialized organizations host "roundtables" with many of these closed to the public. The aim of our programs is, however, to facilitate an even more open exchange and depth of participation by a full range of stakeholders in Canadian equity markets, to enable a truly round table.
The Institute Roundtable on Income Trusts planned in 2005 is one example of the opportunity we see to host events in partnership with other organizations and interested participants. The Institute organized the event for key informants, analysts and observers to join together with policy makers and market regulators to consider questions pertinent to understanding income trusts and flow-through entities, their role in capital markets, risks, concerns and returns of benefit to Canadians and the economy.
Involving and having access to a broad network of experts and potential contributors, the iTrust Institute offers custom-designed or hosting of educational seminars. At a basic level we can help to explain the nature of flow-through securities as well as the dynamics, particularly risks, opportunities and policies affecting equity markets including the Canadian income trust sector. Creation of and attendance at these events will benefit investors with presentations customized to the particular interests of an audience: Either general investors or financial professionals.
As part of its mandate, the iTrust Institute may research industry standards and best practices. And in this context, we may recognize those who demonstrate leadership in work towards our mission and objectives.
On a periodic basis, the Institute may also make an iTrust Recognition award to individuals who demonstrate clear leadership in promoting public dialogue and so enhancing social capital. Or we may make an award to pay witness to those public individuals who face a challenging personal or professional decision in regard to making a decision with significant public implications.
If you are a Member of iTrustInstitute and would like to volunteer to help coordinate events, please join our list of willing volunteers:
