Media Advisory: Delay in planned Roundtable event.
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 8, 2005) - The iTrust Institute has announced that its inaugural Roundtable on Income Trusts is being rescheduled from mid-December until early 2006.
Institute President, Leslie Hayman said, “We are delighted with the number of people coming together from all sides of the market to discuss important issues related to trust investments. Our agenda includes the role of income trusts in investment portfolios of income-seeking Canadians including retirees, tax policy, the relative merit of income trusts versus traditional public companies and broader questions about the productivity of income trust investments as they contribute the overall Canadian economy.”
“As part of our work, we planned for the Roundtable to address questions raised by the Department of Finance Consultation Paper on Flow-through Entities. Industry leaders and market stakeholders are prepared to address on-going government concerns,” said Ms. Hayman.
“As important, many want to define and explore other significant questions about income trusts through thoughtful dialogue. In the last few weeks, we saw that not only is an inclusive event possible to create a truly round table. Government announcements about proposed dividend tax credits have set the stage for the findings of our Roundtable to offer Canadians even greater value following the federal election.”
